7. Vision of the Organization:

CAP envisages a well organized, educated and empowered gender society free from starvation, exploitation, deprivation, malpractice and hunger (material & spiritual) where the people, irrespective of religion, caste and creed live with love, respect, human dignity, freedom, democratic rights, health and in a harmony of peace & happiness.

8. Mission of the Organization:

Working in group & community approach hand in hand with people, special emphasis on women & hardcore poor of the society by way of helping them – to be conscious about socio-economic & political-cultural situation and to realize the values, dignity and rights of each & every individual and take action of non-violence as well as profitable activities for their integrated development.

9. Objectives of the Organization:

  • Mobilize and organize distressed and powerless people into life skill based interventions through a development plan.
  • Facilitate to organized groups in activation and dynamism though their willingness and interest to respond their needs.
  • To empower the underprivileged people so that they can take the responsibility of promoting and protecting their rights and privileges.
  • To provide education of both formal & non-formal to adults & children for building up a bright society free from superstitions, malpractice, avarice, injustice but with happiness and peace.
  • To promote practices for awareness and capacity building of life skills based activities.
  • To create scope for all the people for enjoying equal rights and have equal share of the available resources including women’s reproductive health and rights.
  • Assist group of people in mobilizing local resources to set up model of sustainable development through enhancing good governance at rural and urban settings.

10. Background of the Organization:

CAP is the acronym of Centre for Advancement Programme. CAP is a local non profitable voluntary organization. It was established in 1991 with the initiative of some like minded local energetic young man who have enough experiences in social welfare and development of the locality and for rural marginalized people.

CAP has started its social development activities with firm decision to bring revolutionary social changes. The main thrust of the organization is to help the rural poor people to bring up their own development by way of making them aware/conscious about the socio-economic situation of the society, the principle of health, mechanism of exploitation and oppression. From the very beginning CAP has been trying its best to develop relationship with other governmental and non governmental organizations. Till today CAP is going on through sharing its experiences with such organizations in development sector. Now it is the active member of Association of Development Agencies in Bangladesh (ADAB), Development Net work of Greater Mymensingh, NGO Forum for Drinking water supply and sanitation, Bureau of Non-Formal Education (BNFE), Underprivileged Children Educational Programs – Bangladesh (UCEP-Bangladesh). 

Centre for Advancement Programme (CAP) stresses on participatory, bottom-up and non-directive development approach with a view to developing human relation among group members as well as mutual understanding and trust for wider cooperation and solidarity.

Centre for Advancement Programme (CAP) helps the poor people by mobilizing and group formation themselves through motivation, Non-Formal education and awareness building which is followed by initiating action program for reducing their poverty, ensuring their participation and involvement in development behind CAP – there is a 9 members Executive Committee is elected for two years out of 27 members General Committee is playing role for policy making. All the policies are being implemented by its General Secretary/ Director who is responsible for program implementation, administration and finance.

11. Working Area:

CAP has been operating it’s activity in all over the Sherpur district. Also it is operating it’s activities other part of the country with the funding of GO/NGO.

12. On-going Programs of CAP.

With a view to reach to the Vision of the organization, CAP has been implementing some programs with different local donors and Govt, department. The programs may be summarized as follows:

1) Semi-pakka Latrine for Char Livelihood People with the Assistance of Bangladesh NGO Foundation at Sherpur Sadar Upazila of Sherpur District.

2) Out Of School Children Education Program with the Assistance of Bureau of Non- Formal Education (BNFE) of Government of Bangladesh at Boalkhali Upazila in Chattogram District.

3) Training Program for Maternity Allowance Holder with the Assistance of Department of Women Affairs

14. Transparency of the Organization:

CAP helps the poor people by mobilizing and group formation themselves through motivation, non-formal education and awareness building which is followed by initiating action program for reducing their poverty, ensuring their participation and involvement in devolvement behind CAP, there is a 9 members Executive Committee is elected for two years out of 27 Nos. General Committee for execution it’s program as well as policy making. All the policies are being implemented by it’s General Secretary/Executive Director who is responsible for program implementation, administration and finance. Staff members are managed by following the Organization Management Manual and as per Job Rules.

15. Financial System of CAP:

CAP follows fiscal year: 1st July to 30th June and already has been developed its own Financial Management Policy for its program implementation. All related financial activities are implemented by the existing guidelines. CAP maintain proper books of records like: Cash book, Ledger book, Subsidiary ledger book, Cheque Register/Bank book, Sock Register, Vouchers, Money Receipts etc. Separately. Accounts are audited by internal and external Auditor each year. Bank Accounts are maintaining by joint signatories (Chairman, General Secretary/Executive Director and Treasurer). If any financial Guideline provided by the donor agency then we will follow the guideline.
